I know when it comes to getting pregnant there is a main focus on periods, the uterus, the ovaries and all the extra blurb like temperature and dare I mention it so early in the morning – cervical mucus….
Time and time again I see the panic and frustration in people when they are being advised to do something which to them just doesn’t have any direct link to their fertility. When I work with people I can hear their silent thoughts beaming at me “Never mind about my stomach – just do something to my uterus!!!!” Believe me I feel your pain! I know how that is when you are impatient and wanting results. But here’s the thing:
Point number 1) Your body is linked to the mind (yes yes I know that is obvious)
2) Your fertility is on the low level priority list as far as your body is concerned. It will always focus its attention on other issues like digestion, circulation and breathing first. So, it makes sense for ALL of your body to be happy and healthy so that your body has absolutely no excuse for not finally ticking enough items on the ‘to do’ list to get to the item in block capitals – GETTING PREGNANT
Always remember with your diet that your food will have a direct influence on your egg quality and the blood supply to the uterus. Not that you can’t have treats or that you need to live like a nun but think about upping how much water you drink, include more whole grains, green leafy veg and oily fish. Similarly if you have issues with being under or over weight, or maybe suffer digestive problems then put some loving energy into working with yourself on these, seeing it as your personal ‘plan for getting pregnant’.
Take the good pre-natal vits too – pregnacare or sanatogen. I know I am always banging on about them but they really do include very inportant minerals for fertility.
Is your body in pain? Fighting with chronic pain will also distract your body’s attention, so look into how you can get extra help with this. If the medical route hasn’ t been helpful then try some alternatives (like osteopathy, chiropractics, Bowen, herbs, acupuncture, reflexology, hypnotherapy, reiki etc).
Now the other stuff I want to touch on in relation to this is happiness. Stress and upset obviously will detract the body’s attention from getting pregnant – it simply just has too much on sometimes. I know it’s not easy to pretend to be happy when you are miserable waiting to get pregnant. But there are a few things you can be doing to aid your mood which I promise will help you get there:
If your stress is purely fertility related then making some positive changes to your lifestyle and including nice pampery things like relaxing treatments / massage etc will all be self nurturing. Adding things in or taking away items in your daily diet that you are doing especially to improve fertility will also help you start to feel more in control.
Did you know that gluten aids a low mood? I know for myself if I am in a low inclined sort of mood then if I eat wheat it makes it ten times worse. Did you know that pecan nuts are a mood lifter? Grab a handful of these and I assure you you will start to feel better.
I am also a big believer in mind exercises –
In brief, two things – play the gratitude game every day. Really sit down and note all the awesome things you have had each day in your life. From running water, to the car that takes you where you need to go, from friends to husbands. It will honestly help you shift your mood and your outlook, and then you will be much more calm and also attract pregnancy into your experience.
Affirmations are one of my favourite things to help bridge the gap to a belief pattern. I really like sentences that start – “even though in the past…” as I feel they sit well and when you say it you can really believe the sentence you are saying.
For example – “Even though in the past I have struggled with getting pregnant. I am now doing everything in my power to get there, and can honestly say I know I deserve it. I know hand on heart there would be lots of benefits and fun to be had from achieving my pregnancy”
Fiddle about with it until it sits right and read it out to yourself at least once every day. You will be surprised at how much impact this has not only on your mood but also on how qucikly you can become pregnant.
If you have stress in other areas of your life then pay some attention to finding new ways to solve old problems even see a life coach or hypnotherapist if it helps to speak to someone outside the situation who can shed some new light on perhaps escaping a bad work environment. It may not seem linked but working on your well being will ALWAYS help your fertility. I have seen it happen time and time again.
So in a nutshell – look after you, love you, maintain your wellness – it will all go a long way in bringing you your pregnancy.
