I am thrilled to report that the current success rate for pregnancy with Catching Rainbows clients is around 80%. Of the couple that are having IVF 70% of those who are successful are having / have had twins! Perhaps the techniques are a little too good?! Even a lady with one embryo put back managed to have identical twins when the embryo split.
Interesting though that this should happen, and although I don’t promote twins as something to aim for – simply because the pregnancy does become higher risk I am happy for my clients. All the twins already born have gone to full term and are healthy, none of our babies have had to go to special care (thank goodness) and mums have all done well in their pregnancies.
I think though that the rates will go down for twins as they really start to reduce the amount of embryos being put back in order to reduce the risk of multiples. Many clinics will only put one back and in a way perhaps it is good to have it taken out of our hands, It is quite a decision to take – one or two, or in some cases perhaps even three.
For the time being here at Catching Rainbows we just work with what comes and happily in most cases that is a healthy baby (or two!)
