1.Build the foundations
Whether you have a week to go or six months, there is a lot you can do to nurture and set the scene to get your body in to the best possible place. What we do is look at how your cycle behaves to see what it would like most in terms of tailored support. For example, if you have very heavy, clotted periods, we would aim some of our advice and plan towards helping to steady that so that implantation can be optimised.
We look at your physical health and history and work out what your body needs most. It’s really important that your plan feels comforting, reassuring and that it makes sense to you. Anything that fills you with resentment, frustration or stress is not something that you need or will benefit from.
We advise on lifestyle, nutrition, supplements, fertility massage, complementary therapies, IVF clinics and appropriate protocols, but rest assured we don’t preach or have a one-size fits all mindset. Your plan will be tailored to exactly what makes sense for you, and feels right in your whole self.
We see that for many women, a wholehearted body – mind – soul approach to IVF is what feels most right, and building the right foundations can involve being able to bring together support and help to align all these aspects of that that feel important.
2. Look after your head and heart
Often those around you find it hard to accommodate the fear and trepidation, or even the excitement and anticipation you may be experiencing. You may be inundated with comments and advice that leave you feeling even more stressed and isolated.
Our work with you involves helping you to cope with all the feelings that come. We combine counselling, hypnotherapy / guided relaxation, meditation and spiritual counselling in a really practical way to create you a set of unique tools to help you get to the place you want to be, and manage all the huge thoughts and feelings that become part of this journey.
Some women are full of excitement, and want to just give themselves the best chance possible, whilst others have been through significant trauma and feel utterly terrified at the thought of their IVF. Where ever you are at we make it our job to take care of you.
3. Use specific IVF tips
We use a variety of tips which we find universally helpful. These can then also be tailored to you based on your history and circumstances.
We routinely teach our ‘Embryo Transfer Technique’ which is a simple, self relaxation tool to soften the muscles of the endometrium during transfer. This reduces the spasms caused by the procedure. A mini version of this technique is available to download for free here, along with a collection of our favourite tips. here, along with a collection of our favourite tips.
We also have a full IVF Kit which involves deep meditation / hypnosis tracks to guide and comfort you through each aspect of your IVF cycle, as well as improve the mind – body link to help you be more receptive to the drugs and the process.
